Our house is in total chaos. Boxes, trash everywhere, the dog wandering about and whining like a released mental patient. Ahhh..moving. The joys. However...there is a light in my darkness. It is Craigslist.I was just surfing Craigslist when I came across a dresser in our area for 50.00. Looked like new, from a non-smoking household. Ryan desperately needs a dresser. His T-shirts are in an under-the-bed box and his pants are, well, everywhere. So I inquired about the dresser. Cherry wood, 4 drawer...really nice for the guest bedroom. Then I kept browsing..and laid on eyes on a gorgeous Hope Chest....Cherry outside and Cedar inside. Like new, with an old fashion lock on the outside. I have always wanted one of these...to keep blankets in. And one can never have too many blankets (see: when 6 people crashed at our house because of a massive power outtage for a week - didn't have enough blankets...scarred me for life!). I wanted it, but I was pretty skeptical. It looked nice, but then again everything does online.I was contacted shortly after my inquiries by a woman who was actually the seller of both!! Hoorah! She told me I was the only normal one to contact her and she wanted to see if I could pick up both pieces. Tonight..in about an hour. Good thing we have a mini-van!! Ryan and Evan drove over, paid 90.00 for both pieces and brought them home.I don't know what I was expecting. Nice stuff, probably. But then they took it out of the car. I gasped. The dresser is really nice. Mint-condition, really. That was great. But the chest....oh my gosh..the chest.
Gorgeous cherry wood. HUGE in size. Not a scratch on the glossy surface. Fully Cedar lined. The lid opens slowly and can stay open on it's own. The inside looks like nothing was ever kept in it. The water markings are still there. I looked it up online....for a model similar to ours: $400.00!! The paperwork is still inside for cleaning and care.
I'm in love. This is the perfect thing to begin our new start in our new home. Oh, and those white shreds on the floor is because our paper shredder like exploded. I digress.God Bless Craigslist.
