Becoming European?

The Reality: Given rising fuel prices (and maybe, hopefully, some environmental concerns), the market for trucks and SUV's has collapsed to the point that Ford Motor Company is changing its US manufacturing philosophy to a more European mindset.

The Thought: Most of the time, when a country develops a cultural philosophy, there are very pragmatic reasons behind the decision. They could be religious, geographical, or economical, but there is an obvious reason behind what is done.
