Following one of my art openings last year, I was invited to an outdoor barbecue at a friend’s house. This friend, along with her three young daughters, also attended my exhibition.
I first met fine artist Michael Johnson at a now defunct gallery in Denver's Santa Fe Art District. He wasn't quite sure what to do with a pastor who liked hanging out with the art crowd, but a friendship developed rather quickly none the less.
In our age, scientific discoveries shed light on functions of the body everyday, yet there is much — emotions, thought processes, spiritual experiences — that still eludes researchers. Artists have always been drawn to the figure as subject matter throughout time in order to explore unknown parts of the human drama and have interpreted it in many different ways on canvas.

This week we continue the discussion on how to spread the word on the fshbwl, give you more opportunities to be a part of the community, and discuss the ever elusive devotional life ... all with Ryan being in ever exciting Wyoming!
On any given day, Michael Wilson might open a grid-paged book, take out a pen and sketch an image triggered by a conversation overheard on the train. Or, he might scribble some random thoughts under a taped postcard. Later, these parcels might develop into a logo or a four color spread.
1. Inviting Monsters into our Hearts
A child uses all of her senses to discover the world. She picks up and finds fascination with a dandelion, feels the bumpy bark of a tree, tastes the baseball, smells the fallen leaf.
Ask. Discover. Live. That's our motto here at the fishbowl. Humans, by nature, are bent on discovery, on learning, and on interaction. We invite you to sign up for a username and be a part of our community here.
